Kaneyo “Kay” Higashi, 96, of Honaunau died Nov. 5 at her residence. Born April 10, 1916, in Waipahu, Oahu, she was a self-employed proprietress of Higashi Store and member of Hookena Kumiai, Kona Fukuoka Kenjin-Kai and Kona Hongwanji Mission.

Friends may call at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Kona Hongwanji Mission in Kealakekua for a 6:30 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by son, Gary (Irene) Higashi of Honaunau; daughters, Frances (Fred) Uchima of Captain Cook, Gloria (Lance) Okamura of Honaunau; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
